太宰府天満宮が青く染まる：押谷謙爾
太宰府天満宮が大変なことになっていた。久々に同宮を訪れると、参道に林立するポールに青い旗が揺れていた。よく見ると「ＳＡＭＵＲＡＩ ＢＬＵＥ ２００６」の文字がある。学問の神様こと菅原道真がまつられている当地に日本代表の応援フラッグがズラリ。天満宮とサッカーという異色のコラボレーションにしばらく目を奪われた。
「大宰府から代表カラーの青に染めようと頑張っています」。神主の真木智也さん（２８）によると、趣旨に賛同してもらった日本サッカー協会から届いたフラッグの数は４０００枚。今月から掲出を始めたという。社務所の軒先でもおなじみの青色がヒラヒラ。「これからもっと参道の店に飾っていく予定です」（真木さん）。地元の観光協会にも協力をあおぎ、Ｗ杯機運を盛り上げるのだという。
これはアーティストの日比野克彦氏が率いる「アジア代表日本」のプロジェクトの一環。サッカーを文化としてとらえ、芸術とスポーツを融合させようというもので、Ｗ杯期間中に天満宮そばの九州国立博物館で展示会を開いたり、開幕前には福岡の松田監督や横浜の岡田監督のトークショーも開催される。
１６日には「アジア代表日本」の事務局メンバーが「ＳＡＭＵＲＡＩ ＢＬＵＥ ２００６」のビッグフラッグを持って、ソフトバンク王監督を訪ねた。ＷＢＣ優勝の世界一監督から激励の文字を書き込んでもらった。代表に絡んだイベントは大都市中心というイメージを持っていたが、地方からこのようにメッセージを発信する試みはユニークで、なんだかうれしい。
Ｗ杯までもう２カ月を切った。開幕が近づくにつれ、太宰府天満宮は青く染まっていくのだろう。合格祈願する受験生に交じり、日本代表の必勝祈願するサポーターが増えるかもしれない。ぜひジーコ監督にも来ていただきたいものだ。【押谷謙爾】
